Safety Moment: Near Miss Training

Safety Lunch and Learn

Each month NUCA of Colorado offers a Safety Breakfast Moment.  These Breakfast Moments are free of charge to NUCA members and serve as a great benefit because we choose topics that are most pertinent to the industry at that time.  Breakfast and Coffee are provided by NUCA.  We hope that you will register and join us!  

February's Meeting with be Near Miss Training from Lane McKnight, Senior Risk Control Advisor, Flood and Peterson.  

This presentation will include:

  • A discussion on the benefits of near miss reporting
  • Outlining best practices for a near miss reporting program
  • Identification of ways to encourage workers to report near misses

Lane McKnight, CSP, ARM, OHST
Lane McKnight joined Flood and Peterson in 2015 after working 14 years as a safety consultant and construction safety specialist for Pinnacol Assurance. Prior to Pinnacol, he was the safety and environmental coordinator for ICG Communications. Lane now works closely with Flood and Peterson's construction clients in the development and implementation of flexible loss control plans that result in reduced losses for those customers. 

Lane is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with Construction and Ergonomics Specialty designations, as well as an Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST). He also holds an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation as well as a B.S in Industrial Technology from Iowa State University.  In addition, Lane is an authorized OSHA outreach trainer for construction safety.
